Rk House
  • Location - Sewri, Mumbai
  • Year - 2020
  • Type - Residential
The main requirement for this project was to design a high functioning space without compromising on aesthetics amidst a pandemic. Adhering to Scandinavian design principles the design combines simplistic minimalism with classic modernism. A bright neutral palette used throughout the house reinforces an airy spaciousness. Warm wooden flooring acts as a contrast that stitches the design together. The additional pop of colour brought on by the décor and live plants accentuate the space. The design echoes the client’s want of a space where one can just ‘live well’.

This space was designed drawing inspiration from the Nordic design practice. The cool, airy and light atmosphere is countered by soft pastels of the décor. The warm wooden flooring complements these elements and adds a balance that continues throughout the house. This minimalistic approach maintains a functionality that accentuates the simplistic elegance which extends a mellow warmth.

Naik House
  • Location – Goregaon, Mumbai.
  • Year – 2018
  • Type – Residential
The 470 sq. ft. apartment located in the suburbs of Mumbai was transformed into a cosy abode for a family of four. Featuring two fully functional bathrooms, a bedroom kitchen and living room, the Naik house still maintains its spaciousness. The use of sliding folding partitions enables the space to evolve as per the need of the client. The partition separates the living room and the kitchen, it can be opened up to accommodate family dinners and get togethers. A quiet nook can be created with the help of the partition in the living room. The window backdrop along with a plant wall makes this spot a perfect place for laid back Sunday evenings.

Crowdfire
  • Location – Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
  • Year – 2016
  • Type – Office
The requirement of the design was to create an ‘open office’ that still allowed space for private discussions and meetings. The office was grouped into various clusters, each group with a unique feature. To provide private spaces for client meetings and group discussion, meeting pods were designed in bright colours to provide contrast. The logo colours, red and white were used as accents throughout the space. Pause points were provided throughout the office for quick discussions. Mini snack bars placed in various spots in the office serve as ‘pick me ups’ for a quick snack break. The cafeteria holds multiple purposes, while the space fulfils its main function, it can also be used to hold small events. The amphitheatre set up with a projector, designed in its vicinity provides extra seating for the cafeteria, its main purpose however was to create a space for tech meetings and movie nights. Crowdfire was designed utilising a huge space intelligently so as to maximize the feel of an open office.

Upstox 01
  • Location - Dadar, Mumbai.
  • Year - 2019
  • Type - Office
Upstox is an online broking platform that helps you trade and analyse the Indian stock markets in real-time. The main requirement of the client was the need for space clusters for various teams. The design flows in a manner that emphasizes an airy spaciousness. The challenge was to ensure clusters that were interconnected yet demarcated. In line with this, half-height exposed brick walls were topped with glass, this helped to create an openness while maintaining privacy. Several collaborative spaces were also integrated throughout the office for inter-team discussions and brainstorming sessions. Each collaborative space was uniquely designed. The cafeteria being the social hub of the workplace offers multiple seating options. A bar counter enables quick caffeine recharges while the conventional table and chair are perfect for the lunch hours. The entire design offers a careful balance of privacy and interconnectivity.

Marine Treasury
  • Location - South Mumbai.
  • Year - 2017
  • Type - Store
The steampunk themed antique store - Marine Treasury specialises in refurbishing salvaged ship parts. Design elements intelligently accentuate the store’s identity. An exposed metal mesh ceiling, warm lighting and the integration of ship parts creates a space that draws curiosity and awe. The intentional use of a steel bulkhead door breaks away from the convention of a typical storefront, giving it the resemblance of a treasure vault. The use of various metal consistently throughout the design creates an atmosphere of walking inside a ship. The design of the store makes visiting it an experience, something that one will not forget anytime soon.

  • Year - 2018
  • Type - Store

Francophone
  • Location - Thane
  • Year - 2017
  • Type - Cafe
Francophone is an inviting ‘brasserie’ located near an active street. This charming café was designed drawing inspiration from the city of Paris. The design was aimed at bringing together the two faces of Paris – the classical and the industrial. The constant contrast of warm wood and cold metal used throughout the café uniformly bridges together the two styles. A metal truss frame filled in with transparent glass panels form the entrance of the café, fulfilling two functions – showcasing the café to lure in customers and providing a street view for the patrons inside. A winding metal staircase leads up to the mezzanine that overlooks the entire café. The mezzanine offers a view to louvered windows fixed to the wall in a faux setting that adds to the Parisian theme. The carefully planned use of suspended light bulbs of different sizes offers an illusion of ‘floating lights’, which was inspired from the photo-bleaching effect. This transforms the café during the evening hours adding to its ambience. Finer design elements used, consistently further the design of a French brasserie. Francophone was designed to bring the experience of the enchanting city of Paris to the busy streets of India.
